This is an on-going project based on the Characters and poems of Dante Alighieri. I aim to develop this project during a four months residency programme I will participate in Venice. I am mainly attracted by the idea of negative space in Dante’s work and ability to add visual qualities and shapes to his poem.

The union of two poles, Yin and Yang, To illustrate this marriage of opposites, I used the painting ‘The American Gothic’ by Grant Wood I deconstructed this painting and reconstructed it by adding new images from other painters such as Georgia O’Keeffe ‘The white flower’ and Piet Mondrian ‘The Abstract Tree’. I used these two works of art as symbols of the dualities mentioned above.
